THE AFFORDABLE CARE ACT (AKA OBAMACARE) & PSPRS RETIREES

The (ACA) Affordable Care Act, also known as Obamacare, has begun it's open enrollment period for a January 1st effective coverage date. Many of you have inquired about how this effects the state offered retiree health insurance coverage provided to our current retirees and their families.

For plan year 2014, your state health care plans and benefits will remain the same. Current plans will not be directly affected by the Affordable Care Act, in other words, your benefits are NOT reduced, and the premium cost is NOT determined by the ACA.

The ASRS has provided an informative breakdown of how The Affordable Care Act fits into the overall healthcare landscape. If you have special needs or concerns regarding The Affordable Care Act (AKA Obamacare) we advise you to talk directly with your health care insurer. Please feel free to check out this FAQ download for more information.
